For centuries, scientists have observed male-type baldness, which develops only after puberty and is prevented by castration before puberty, and after which hair loss can not be stopped. The reason for this is that hair follicles are exposed to androgen hormones and become sensitive to these hormones. For a long time, they believed that male type of baldness was inherited systemic disease associated with sexual maturity. That contrasted with observations from centuries, when it was claimed that anyone could lose hair after entering the puberty. Today, it is known that the pathophysiological basis of androgenic alopecia is the influence of male hormones on genetically sensitive individuals. Although we are talking about male type of baldness, this is also the most common cause of hair loss in women.
This is a minimally invasive method, which in comparison to classical methods, shortens recovery and reduces the possibility of complications. it is a standard of balding treatment, but its enforcement is slow due to technical difficulty.
What is follicular transplant?
Follicle transplantation is a modern technique for balancing baldness. In contrast to the old methods, individual hair follicles, each containing from 1 to 4 hair, are transplanted. Older methods transplanted larger hair groups, which resolved in an unnatural appearance. With this method we achieve a natural result, as the pattern of growth of transplanted hair is the same as natural.
The goal of hair transplantation is to improve the appearance and to increase your self-esteem. It is necessary to precisely define the goals and talk about them with the surgeon.
Candidates must have healthy hair transplants on the sides and on the back of the head, because follicles are taken from these areas, which are then transplanted to places of deprivation. The result is also affected by the texture of the hair, the direction of growth and the wavyness of the hair.
There are also restrictions on hair transplantation and for those with almost no hair, hair transplantation is not recommended. Prior to procedure, the cause of hair loss, the process of deprivation and genetic stress should be identified. We evaluate the number of grafts required, the density of the hair, the colour, quality of the hair, the quality of the skin and the anticipated further hair loss.
For the intervention with the FUE method, the scalp must be shaved at the length of the hair about 3-4 mm. Do this exactly at the hairdresser. Before your procedure, you will receive instructions regarding any necessary investigations and restrictions on taking certain medicines. We perform the procedure in local anesthesia, so you can have breakfast in the morning. Coffee and smoking are not recommended. In the morning, wash your hair with a normal shampoo and dry your hair with a clean towel and a hair dryer. Wear lightweight clothes for the procedure - preferably not dressing over the head.
Hair transplantation is performed in local anesthesia. The local anesthetic is injected into the scalp using an injection and a thin needle and starts to work very quickly. You are awake during the procedure and you can talk to the operator or watch movies using special video glasses. If you wish, we can give you a medicine for sleep, so you be asleep throughout the whole procedure. The removal of the transplants takes place evenly over the large surface at the back of the head and above the ears, which does not change the appearance of the scalp.
Thereafter we use anesthesia on a receiving site, where individual follicles are implanted. The duration of procedure lasts for several hours, with a greater number of implants. After the procedure, the scalp is bleeding for a little. We cover it with a special gauze, which does not adhere to the base, and we bandage your head.
After the procedure the pain is minimal and paracetamol is sufficient for mitigation. There can also be minimal swelling, which disappear within a few days, they rarely last up to three weeks. Bandages can be removed after two days.
It is important to be careful that the gauze does not extract to the transplanted hair. At the same time you can also wash your hair with warm water. The use of a gentle shampoo in low doses is also permitted. You will also receive written instructions for nursing care after a hair transplant. You will notice some transplanted hair loss within a few days to weeks, which is normal. In a few months new hair will start growing. The final result is shown after 12 months.
